What bike do you ride?

I still ride my 2016 Orbea Orca with its Shimano 105 rim brake groupset and Fulcrum Racing Quattro carbon wheels.
I’m also in the process of rebuilding the first bike I ever bought with my own money, a 2013 Cinelli Experience. So far, it’s been tricked out with Campagnolo Chorus, Campagnolo Bora One tubular wheels and Bontrager XXX finishing kit. I’m really excited to get it out on the open road this Spring

Where is your favourite place to ride your bike and why?

I have always been drawn to Italy. It’s a country of contradictions. In some aspects, it’s so conservative and uncompromising yet in others, it’s liberal and freewheeling and that fascinates me.
Since working at Cyclist, I have since been fortunate enough to ride my bike all across Italy and have never been left disappointed. The scenery is enchanting, the company enriching and food always incredible.

What got you into cycling?

Fun fact, I didn’t learn to ride a bike until I was 14. I used to skateboard so had no interest in getting a bike. But then I begrudgingly learnt and my best mate Ewan, who raced, introduced me to this colourful world of high drama that is professional bike racing. From that moment I was hooked, it became my life and now, 11 or so years on, I’m fortunate enough to have a job that lets me live this passion

Who do you rate the most on the pro scene?

I’ll bet you a pound note that in the next five years we’ll be getting all misty-eyed about young, French Grand Tour hopeful David Gaudu, marvelling at the brutally strong Kasper Asgreen in the Spring Classics and raising an eyebrow at Mikkel Berg’s individual time trial abilities.

What's been your favourite memory over the past 100 issues of Cyclist?

I guess the moment that sticks out to me is when I did the Bradley Wiggins Collection feature. His rise to stardom paralleled my growing love for the sport and I can vividly remember being a schoolboy watching this guy winning the Tour de France. And then suddenly I’m meeting him at his storage for an exclusive feature about all of these items he had collected over the years.
I don’t really get starstruck in this job, it’s something I pride myself on actually, but I did have to take a moment to step back and think ’shit, this is insane’. I’m here kicking back with my teenage hero cracking one-liners about Liverpool FC, making him laugh. Madness.
